IFD President's Welcome
Since our Annual General Meeting in September 2019, in Brisbane, Australia, we continue to work for Denturists worldwide.
Reflecting over the past year, the IFD continues to support Denturists recognition worldwide. Through various initiatives, the IFD is providing information to empower Denturists to obtain recognition. We communicate our commitment. To remain relevant and respected by denturists, our communication focus is on raising the awareness of our country members, as well as industry partners for International Federation of Denturists commitment and achievements. Our website is at the heart of our communication strategies. It is supported by social media Facebook. Our Newsletter is designed to promote our profession and incite people to do more about his evolution.
At our meeting, we learned what is happening in each of our member countries. We discussed significant political issues with our colleagues. We are also trying to get feedback from the initiatives to gain recognition in other countries. IFD must continue to be at legislator face and let them know all the advantages that Denturists can bring to the populations! We referred to our objectives and closely monitored our progress.
IFD continued to grow with the assistance of our sponsors: Vita, Candulor and this year we appreciate our new sponsor Kulzer.
IFD also just obtained CDI college in British Columbia as a sponsor for Denturism Study Programs. We are proud to have them joining us with their denturist program.
The IFD is registered on the EU Transparency Register, in section II as in-house lobbyists and as trade / business / professional association. Matthias Luypaert, our new Vice-President Europe is taking care of this important political aspect.
Mr. Colum Sower, our European Committee chairman is representing us at Association for Dental Education in Europe (ADEE). IFD has a forum that can open doors to communicate as regulated peers, serving together as Oral Health professionals. It is a breakthrough for IFD to work with ADEE.
It is my pleasure to confirm that our United Kingdom colleagues have united in a single professional association and IFD welcome the British Association for Clinical Dental Technicians (BACDT) as our member.
In some of our progressive member countries Denturists are working together with Dentists and other members of the Oral Health Care Team in the governmental regulatory boards.
To provide support to young denturists on their path towards excellence, we pay high attention to the Denturist training: we reworked our Baseline Competencies document on our private Website and add information about historical concern.
CDI college in British Columbia is a great Denturism Study Program. We are proud to have them joining us. It will help Education program in their evolution in the near future.
Board of Directors and Executive Committee
In addition, IFD would like to commend the contribution of the members of our Board of Directors in performing their mandate. Their volunteer actions are essential to the management of our services. IFD would like to thank them for the time and energy they dedicate for the betterment of Denturism in their country and worldwide. IFD Executive Committee is committed to promoting communication initiatives that will bring Denturism profession significant in the head of Oral Health Care members worldwide.
As Duffy, our Emeritus Sage wrote:
In the interest of public health safety and welfare, competing professions have an obligation to make a significant contribution to the community by reinforcing and supporting each other's roles.
Dentists care for and conserve natural teeth and prevent and treat diseases of the mouth.
Denturists, on the other hand, have an explicitly defined role in terms of construction, fitting, patient aftercare and care of dentures.
Let us move forward together, in a spirit of mutual respect, to champion the only real cause worth tackling, that of the dental health and well being of our Denturists communities worldwide .
We, as the International Federation of Denturists,
- Hope to work for Denturists world-wide to help get the knowledge to empower Denturists to get the recognition they deserve.
- Work on our goal now and forever, the advancement of the profession of Denturists on a world-wide basis.
- Want to improve the visibility of Denturism so that Denturists' services and caring are more readily known and available.
In my presidential mandate, I will share my passion for the recognition of the Denturist profession.
I am also committed to promote initiatives that will bring the profession as an active participant in Oral Health Care Forums worldwide.
We look forward to advancing the global practice of denturism and to all join hands to face mutual challenges.
